Congratulations to this year’s cohort of Strengthening Our Common Life (SOCL) trainees for successfully completing their Diplomas in Cultural Heritage!
It’s been so great working with Culture& and all the trainees in my role as Assessor for the Diploma. It was a real pleasure getting to know you all and I’ve no doubt you’ll all go far in your careers and be inspiring and passionate members of the museum workforce of the future.
Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Skills for the Future initiative, SOCL aims to meet one of HLF’s core objectives: to increase workforce diversity across the heritage sector by providing work-based training for young people from sections of the population that are historically under-represented.
18 trainees in institutions such as the British Museum, English Heritage, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Southbank Centre and London Transport Museum completed traineeships in a range of areas including curatorial, programming, learning and community engagement.
